Company registration in Algeria

An Algerian SARL is formed by reserving the name with the CNRC, having a notary draw up the statutes and lease, publishing in the official legal bulletin, then registering in the commercial register and with the tax office and CASNOS. Capital is free, but foreign founders must budget for notarial deeds, a resident card for individual foreign partners and, in some sectors, a majority Algerian shareholder.

Common mistakes

  • Planning a 100% foreign-owned company in a sector where the 51/49 partnership rule still applies.
  • Using a foreign address or unregistered premises instead of a notarised lease or approved domiciliation.
  • Skipping the resident card that foreign natural persons must include in the file.
