Company registration in the Netherlands

A Dutch BV is set up by a civil-law notary, who executes the deed and registers the company and its ultimate beneficial owners with KVK. Directors may live abroad, but the BV needs a real Dutch address; budget for the notary on top of the KVK fee.

Common mistakes

  • Comparing only the KVK fee: the notary is the main cost.
  • Forgetting UBO registration — KVK cannot register the BV without it.
