Opening an Estonian company with e-Residency

e-Residency is a government digital ID that lets you found and run an Estonian company online. It is not citizenship, residence, tax residency or a visa.

The official rules that apply

  • The state fee for an e-resident digital identity card application is 150 euros; from 1 January 2027 it becomes a flat fee of €165.
  • A €10 state fee must be paid before changing the pickup location.
  • e-Residency does not confer citizenship, tax residency, physical residency or right of entry to Estonia or the EU.
  • The e-Residency digital ID card is not a travel document, and picking it up is not a valid reason to be issued a visa.
